The Astoria Parks and Recreation Department has collaborated with the Oregon Chapter of the Lewis & Clark Trail Heritage Foundation to install an interpretive panel detailing the Corps of Discovery’s 10 day stay at Tongue Point and a bench with a memorial plaque honoring one of the Chapter’s former leaders.
The Parks Department and Tongue Point Job Corp provided in-kind support by building a concrete pad and installing a bench and sign. The dedication ceremony will be November 7 at 2:00 PM in the Alderbrook Lagoon, just off the Riverwalk trail along the northern edge of the open meadow.
The dedication ceremony is open to the public.
