It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our fellow Astoria Parks and Recreation Board Member, Aaron Crockett. Aaron passed away on Saturday, May 5th due to health complications he had experienced over the past few months.
Aaron joined the Astoria Parks and Recreation Board in January of 2016 and immediately brought with him an energetic, youthful vitality that helped bring new perspective into our board. Aaron was a popular server at T Paul’s Supper Club, often times earning distinction in the Daily Astorian’s Coast Weekend Annual Readers’ Choice for “best server.” He was also an avid runner and part of Astoria’s running community where you could find him out on our local trails, and local races.
“We are forever grateful for Aaron’s time and service on the Astoria Parks and Recreation Board.” Says Norma Hernandez, President of the Astoria Parks and Recreation Board. “We will miss the sound of his motorcycle pulling up to our 6:45am board meetings, and strolling in with his frozen hair during the winters. May his family be warmed by the thoughts and prayers of our board and the impact he had on our community through his service to our parks.”
The energy he brought to the Astoria Parks and Recreation board was palpable, and his warm, welcoming personality will be greatly missed. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, May 20th at the Astoria Armory in the upstairs Community Center at 4:00pm.
