Avoid | Deny | Defend, is a program developed by the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT)™ Program at Texas State University.

APD would like to share this website with you. There is a lot of useful information on how you can be prepared for an active shooter situation. If you would like to know more, APD is offering to present this information to local groups. The audio/visual presentation will last about an hour. APD has presented this information to several local groups including businesses, volunteer groups, churches, and other similar groups.

Sgt. Andrew Randall can provide additional information about this program. If you are interested in knowing more about scheduling a presentation for your group please watch this short video first. This video provides a good overview of the information that will be covered during the group presentation. We realize that this type of information may not be suitable for every type of group and we want to make sure you know what the tone of the presentation will be like. If you feel that this information is suitable for your group, and would like to know more about arranging a time for it to be presented to a group that you are a part of, you can contact Sgt. Andrew Randall at: arandall@astoria.gov.
