Slow Sand Filter Resanding Project

The City’s four slow sand filters require replenishment with new sand media to maintain filter performance and meet water quality standards. The filters were last resanded between 2018 and 2020 and typically require resanding every five to seven years.

The filters will be resanded sequentially, with the work prioritized based on each filter’s condition and assessed need. While one filter is out of service for resanding, the remaining three filters will provide adequate capacity to meet the City’s normal potable water demand.

Construction is expected to take approximately 18 to 24 months, with work beginning in November 2025 and anticipated completion in early 2027.
